150 Tram Launching Ceremony

The tram has served the Hong Kong people since 1904, embodying our stories and memories. St. Joseph’s College, as one of the most influential schools in Hong Kong, have been performing its task of educating generations for 150 years, providing students education and the teachings of God’s Word. To celebrate this breakthrough, a collaboration was brought about with Tramplus Limited through launching a student-designed tram to tour along the HK Island railways, manifesting this joyful occasion, and spreading the excitement beyond school gates.

One side of the tram contains various animated figures of Josephians with different talents, showcasing our versatility as well as our dedication in different fields. It represents the achievements that we have made through the persistence of generations of Josephians, and more to come. The other side took inspiration from our North Block, erected in 1920 and now a declared monument. It showcases the gorgeous building put in the background of a light blue sky and dazzling skyline.

The interior of the tram is decorated with green-and-white wallpapers, resembling our Green and White Spirit, as well as different aspects of SJC represented by delicate symbols. We are the first school to extend our extraordinary design into the interiors of the tram among Tramplus collaborations.

We are proud to announce that, on 8 February (Saturday), teachers, students, and alumni gathered at the Whitty Street Tram Depot, and launched the long-awaited SJC 150 Tram. Together, they witnessed this historical moment and an overwhelming dream eventually came true. This allowed the hard work of Josephians to parade around HK Island, manifesting our school motto Labore et Virtute by staying virtuous and inspirational through our hard work . We hereby express our utmost gratitude to Tramplus HK for providing us with an incredible opportunity to demonstrate Josephian spirit and brotherhood to the public throughout launching the tram.
