The Winter Service for the Homeless was successfully held on 28th December, 2023 (Thursday). It was organised through the combined efforts of the Civic Club, the Hong Kong Red Cross Youth Unit 17, and the Society for Community Organisation (SoCO).
In preparation, winter clothing was first collected through a collection box outside the K7 office from 2nd to 26th December. The collected materials were then distributed to the homeless by a group of students on 28th February at Tung Chau Street, located in Sham Shui Po.
The aims of the service are mainly to serve the community, foster students’ contribution to the homeless in Hong Kong, raise students’ awareness of the problems currently faced by people experiencing homelessness, and reduce textile waste by repurposing the collected items. On behalf of the ECA committee, we appreciate the students’ efforts and their significant contributions to society during the Christmas holiday. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the organisers of this event.
