Student of the Year Awards 2019-20

Co-hosted by South China Morning Post and the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Student of the Year awards outstanding students from Hong Kong’s local and international schools with scholarships and titles. This year, Benjamin Chan, Adrian Li and Wing Heng Ma achieved admirable results.

CHAN Benjamin of 6F ranked third in “Grand Prize” this year. Recently elected as Vice President of the Hong Kong Outstanding Students’ Association, Benjamin is dedicated to serving the community and broadening accessibility to education and social resources for the underprivileged. Throughout the years, Benjamin has actively participated in extracurricular activities – having been Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Captains of the Debate and Mock Trial teams and Vice Presidents of the Science Society and Biology and Conservancy Association. Benjamin hopes to inspire younger Josephians to actively participate in ECA within and without the school. (For students interested in the application process, please direct message him @benjamin_chan_ on Instagram.)

Adrian Li of 6F was shortlisted for “Best Improvement”. He has worked fervently in his 6 years at SJC to strive continuously for improvement and bettering others around him. He was the president of the Mathematics Society and is devoted to cultivating Josephians’ talents. Through dedication and diligence, Josephians are sure to climb to new heights.

Ma Wing Heng of 4D was shortlisted for “Performing Artist”. He has actively participated in artistic events in school, such as the Music Society and school Choir. His talents were recognised by this year’s award selection committee.

Last but not least, our teacher Mr. Kam Wing-yin was awarded the Special Award for Mentorship in light of his continuous guidance to Benjamin and other Josephians alike.
